Wendy Willis graduated from the University of Michigan with a Bachelor of Music degree in flute performance, holds a Masters of Music in historical performance from the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, and completed an additional year of study at the Royal Northern College of Music in England. She also holds her Florida Teachers Certification (Music K -12) and is a Level I Certified Orff instructor.
Wendy is a native of Michigan and teaches and performs on both modern and historical flutes and recorders. She has served on the faculties of numerous colleges and universities, most notably the University of Notre Dame and St. Mary’s College (Indiana). She has also been a guest clinician in baroque flute at Florida State University.
Wendy has won numerous competitions and in 1995, she was a semi-finalist in the National Flute Association’s “Baroque Flute Artist Competition” held in Orlando, FL. She has performed with orchestras throughout Michigan, Indiana and Florida including the Naples Philharmonic and the SW Florida Symphony. Willis currently performs with Opera Naples, the Fifth Avenue Chamber Orchestra, Flute Cocktail, Fleur de Lys (Indiana) and Coconut Baroque (Miami), 2 historical instrument ensembles dedicated to the performance of baroque music on period instruments, as well as the Miami Bach Society. She also performs with many of Naples finest musicians for recitals, weddings and special events.
