Biography
Wendy
Willis teaches and performs on both modern and historical flutes and recorders.
She has served on the faculties of numerous colleges and universities,
most notably
the University of Notre Dame and St. Mary's College (Indiana). Ms. Willis has
performed with numerous orchestras throughout Michigan, Indiana and Florida,
including the Naples Philharmonic and
the Southwest Florida Symphony. She also
performs chamber music with Sounds of Paradise (flute
and harp duo), Seaside Strings, (flute,
violin and cello), as well as two historical instrument consorts dedicated to
the performance of baroque music on period instruments: Neapolitan
Baroque (Naples) and Fleur de Lys (Indiana).
Willis has won competitions through the National Flute Association, performing
in St. Louis, Minneapolis, Denver and Boston. In 1995, Willis was a semi-finalist
in the NFA’s Baroque Flute Artist Competition held in Orlando, Florida. Ms. Willis
holds a masters degree in historical performance from the New England Conservatory
of Music, a Bachelors degree in flute performance from the University of Michigan
and completed an additional year of study at the Royal Northern College of Music
in Manchester, England. |
